pigz users,

pigz version 2.3 has been released and is now available at http://zlib.net/pigz/ . The main changes since 2.3 are:

- Don't complain about missing suffix when not writing output file
- Do not decompress concatenated zlib streams -- only gzip streams
- Add option for compression level 11 to use zopfli
- Fix handling of junk after compressed data

The -11 compression level uses a new deflate compressor called zopfli, from researchers at Google. This compressor provides a few more percent compression, but at a severe cost in compression time of one to two orders of magnitude. It should only be used when the compression is done once, but the decompression is done many times.
